OBJECT HEAVY

First up, we had OBJECT HEAVY out of Arcata, CA starting the night off and got everyone dancin’ and up out of their chairs. There is an honesty that comes through in music when the people that are playing together are also having fun together and not just going through the motions of putting on a show. These guys were having a great time together and I’ve had their album on (new one comin’ !) ever since.

ORGONE

When there is a band that has played High Sierra Music Festival coming through town I always make an effort to try and go - because I know I am automatically surrounded by “my people” and getting a little taste of “home” while I wait for my favorite time of year. A night of some soulful funk - does it get any better than that?


They suit by putting on an equally groovable set - people in the crowd were having a lot of fun - and the amount of talent all at once was amazing. The “lead” singer changing from song to song and participating in the other songs in other ways. It will always amaze me that people are able to play more than one instrument, let alone sing at the same time. Made my heart so happy that one of my favorite songs was the encore song - and sending the night off with all of us singing it together was a sweet memory.
