BAD ART CLUB


I couldn't think of a better time for Bad Art Club to have its debut at the SF MOMA than at the same time as the Matisse exhibit. Matisse was known for using bold expressive colors that were not hyper realistic for the subject he was portraying and when it comes to creating with bad art club the whole purpose is to let go of perfectionism and to create as a means of expression and connection.


Together as a community, folks were encouraged to play with different mediums to create art using pastels and gauche - cut up other peoples art pieces and then create different matisse inspired shapes to add to a collective collage. There were two other activations happening at the same time, creating crazy hats and watercolor self portraits that were hosted by other facilitators - the energy in the room was incredible. So much laughter and play - a truly different world when you stepped into the Gina and Stuart Peterson White Box on the 4th floor of the museum. The evening shifted the white box into a box full of incredible, colorful, expressive art!
